Categories

Now it is time for the real work!

Click Categories:

It’s a good idea to create some categories before you start uploading your pictures.
These categories will appear on your brows page as a pull-down menu. This will make it easier for your visitors to select the pictures they are interested in.

On the Category page you can create, edit and delete those categories.

Prepare the pictures

The pictures that come from your camera are normally way to big to publish on the internet. So we have to shrink them to a acceptable size.

You can use several programs to do this but in this tutorial I will use Photoshop. The big advantage of Photoshop is that you can create a batch job to convert the pictures.

Start Photoshop and select File > Automate > Web Photo Gallery

Copy the following settings:

Change the Source Image Settings ‘Brows’ en ‘Destination’.

Then select ‘Options’ Large Images en again copy the settings shown below. Here you can set the size and quality of your pictures.

This is just an example. You can change the settings later on if you are not satisfied with the result.

Finally select at the ‘Options’ menu Thumbnails. Copy these settings.

Again, this is just an example.

Now you are ready to batch-shrink your pictures. Click ‘OK’. Now Photoshop will shrink the original pictures and create the thumbnails.

When this is finished close down Photoshop and brows to the folder which you have set as the destination folder:

In this folder only the images and thumbnails folder are important for us.

Upload the pictures

To upload your pictures, start your webbrowser and log on to the admin page of Pixelpost.
Click NEW IMAGE and brows to the image folder, select a picture, give it a title, a category and a description.
